FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…

INTERSTATE WORLDWIDE RELOCATION SUPPORTS SPRINGFIELD GIRL SCOUTS

SPRINGFIELD, Va., – For the tenth consecutive year, Interstate Worldwide Relocation received and housed over 1,500 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies for the Springfield, Virginia Service Unit cookie drive.  Interstate brought together 33 area Girl Scout troops and their parents, from around the Springfield area for a fun-filled day of sorting and distributing cookies.

“As always, Interstate Worldwide Relocation is pleased to support the Girl Scouts through their cookie drive,” said Arthur E. "Bud" Morrissette IV, executive vice president at Interstate Worldwide Relocation.  “Every year we are amazed at the dedication these young women put forth in the Girl Scouts main fundraiser.”

Every penny of the cookie drive proceeds remains in the local council’s area.  This revenue is used to benefit the troops, both directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop/group treasury and indirectly by subsidizing the cost of providing the Girl Scout program in the local area.  "Cookie revenues" help local councils:

  • Recruit and train volunteer leaders for each troop/group.
  • Provide the financial assistance needed to make Girl Scouting available to all girls.
  • Improve and maintain camp and other activity sites.
  • Keep event/camp fees for all members to a minimum.
  • Sponsor special events and projects.

“Interstate’s long standing support of the Springfield area Girl Scout troops is amazing,” said Florence French, coordinator of Springfield Girls Scouts troop.  “Selling the cookies is an invaluable experience for our troops and Interstate provides the logistical support to make it happen.”
