(Springfield, VA) Three employees of Interstate Worldwide Relocation received Certificates of Achievement from the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) for completion of the AMSA Leaders Program, a new educational program designed to develop management skills and leadership capabilities for the relocation industry's future executives. Interstate team members Eric Fierst, Quality Control Manager, and Mary Ann Williams, Move Management Manager, completed the 21-week Leadership Track, and Rob Nease, Director of Government and National accounts, completed a 19-week Management Track.
Each program focused on studying leadership vs. management, developing and assessing decision making skills, the effective use of analytical skills, strategic thinking and communications, and using technology to its fullest capabilities. Additionally, the Leaders Track provided additional training in analyzing company financial statements, strategic thinking and working within the legislative process. During the course of the program, each participant completed a personal preference questionnaire that was later analyzed and discussed by two experts using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator tool. "It was interesting to see the results of the Myers-Briggs test and compare the results to what I had learned about myself during the course of the program. I realize that a combination of all types of leadership contribute to making an organization successful, and now have a greater understanding of and appreciation for other styles of leadership," said Williams.
Williams, a 17-year Interstate veteran, coordinates all national, GSA, and military priority shipments, and oversees Interstate's growing Logistics division. Fierst, with Interstate for four years, manages the quality initiatives and control of services provided to
Interstate's customers. He also manages Interstate's training efforts, CDL license examinations and OSHA-required training/certifications and ISO certification. Nease, a 15-year industry professional, oversees all business development efforts associated with both government and national accounts.
Now celebrating 60 years of providing Top Hat Service to the community and three generations of family leadership, the Interstate family of companies comprises a worldwide group of relocation management, transportation and logistic entities that will facilitate more than 25,000 relocations over the next year. With a team of 300 employees locally and 1,000 service partners worldwide, Interstate prides itself on its achievement of ISO certification for all entities and facilities, as well as numerous prestigious awards bestowed upon the organization, including the National Capital Business Ethics Award, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority's Quality First Blue Diamond Award and numerous Safety in the Workplace Award honors from the American Moving and Storage Association.
